For all engagement options note that service provision is limited to clients in Australia. All payments are private pay only. Dr Karin is not panelled with any insurance providers, nor does she have a provider number. The Medicare-rebate and Mental Health Care Plans also do not apply.

Appointment Booking

For current couples counselling clients:

Couples Counselling Assessment and Fees

All couples counselling commences with the assessment phase. The assessment fees are based on the number of hours needed to complete the process. Generally, the assessment requires about 4 to 5 hours over 4 to 5 sessions (see below). It also requires approximately 1 hour of completing an online questionnaire (done after Session 1 and prior to the individual sessions). We can do these first few sessions at whatever pace works for you. Beyond the Assessment phase regular sessions (particularly at the start, e.g., weekly or fortnightly) are recommended.

The components of the couples counselling assessment are as follows:

Session 1: Couple's intake session (standard 50 minutes). Note, sometimes an additional intake session is required to build a full understanding of your challenges and relationship history. 

In-between session activity: Online Gottman Questionnaires - US$39 (approximately AU$60) (includes online assessment and couple's personalised report - provided post Session 4) 

Sessions 2 & 3: Individual sessions (standard 50 minutes each)  

Session 4: Couple's session - assessment feedback and treatment planning (standard 50 minutes)

Online Couples Counselling Tips and Set-up

If you are new to online couples counselling or want to make sure you maximise your counselling experience, please see these tips for setting yourself up comfortably at home. The online counselling service we offer is only available to clients in Australia. At the time of your appointment please go to Dr Karin's online counselling room (by appointment only). Please wait in the virtual waiting room until you are brought in. We use Zoom - you do not need a Zoom account, but can sign up if you want to. In the event of internet failure Dr Karin will call you on your mobile.

Standard Counselling Fees (including GST)

Initial Query - Mobile, 15 minutes, free 

Standard session (50 minutes), $215  ($225 from 01/05/2024)

Long session (100 minutes), $430  ($450 from 01/05/2024)

Cancellation/Reschedule Policy

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel /reschedule at least 48 hours beforehand by emailing reception@relationshipssquared.com or call: (03) 8596 3585 (during office hours: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm). Otherwise, you will be charged for the full rate of the session. You will receive an SMS reminder 3 days prior to your appointment.

Payment

We accept all major debit/credit cards as forms of payment. The Halaxy booking system includes card capture at the time of booking. The fee will be automatically processed at the start of the scheduled appointment. We have a $30 late payment fee policy. If you have not paid within 48 hours after your appointment either because you did not make a bank transfer, do not have funds on your card or you have not provided card details, a $30 late payment fee is added to your invoice. 2. Couples Relationship Health Assessment

The complete Couples Relationship Health Assessment (including 4 x 50-minute consultations (in person or online), Gottman Connect Questionnaire, personalised report, feedback and action plan recommendations) costs $950.00 (including GST). Full payment will be collected prior to engaging with the process, and Dr Karin will send you an invoice through the Halaxy platform. The process is as follows:

1.         You and your partner will both separately complete the Gottman Connect Relationship Questionnaire online.

2.         Together you will both attend a 50-minute consultation with Dr Karin to obtain your relationship history.

3.         Individually you will each attend a 50-minute consultation with Dr Karin to obtain your personal history.

4.         Together you will both attend a 50-minute feedback consultation during which we will discuss the current condition of your relationship, including strengths and challenges, and identify research-based tools and strategies to begin to help you address these. This includes a tailored action plan with a range of options for you to consider.

Consultation appointments can be booked by emailing Dr Karin and will be managed through the Halaxy platform. Halaxy has bank-grade security to keep your data and privacy secure. You will also receive an SMS session reminder through Halaxy 3 days prior to your appointment. 

 

If you need to change your appointment, please email Dr Karin as soon as possible so that we can reschedule it. In the event of a late cancellation (less 0-48 hours’ notice)/non-attendance an additional consultation will need to be scheduled at your cost (standard 50-min session rate).

3. Couples Workshop 

An 8-week (12 hour) online workshop conducted in a small group setting from the comfort of your home (includes psycho-education, workbook, exercises). Price: $800 per couple (including GST).
